Winterize Survival Kit

How to Winterize Your Survival Kit

Winter brings unique dangers and emergency situations. Warm weather survival precautions are not sufficient for the winter months. Extra preparedness measures must be taken for winter survival preparedness. The good news is that preparing for winter is easy and affordable.

Many survival supplies can be added to your survival kit to customize it for cold weather. Some of these items you may even have around the house already which will save you time and money. Preparing for the winter months may be the difference between life and death.

First off, keep in mind that during the winter there is a greater possibility that your survival gear will get wet due to snow and other precipitation. Put all of your survival supplies in ziplock bags inside of your survival bag to help keep them dry. Also, your survival backpack should be waterproof. If it is not, purchase a water-proofing solution and spray the bag with it to help keep out moisture.

Next, prepare for the cold. Add blankets, an extra jacket, gloves, hats, socks, body warmers, anything you can fit in the kit that will help keep you warm. You never know when you will run into a survival situation. It could be as simple as sliding off the road while driving and having to wait for help. Make sure that whatever the situation, you will be prepared and safe this winter season.
